Whether you have been playing for a little while or are just starting from scratch, I am confident that my lessons will help you achieve your harmonium goals and get you playing the harmonium and having fun.

Points to Remember:
1. Patience –
Learning harmonium instruments requires patience. Many of the techniques take time to master. Even fingering chords can be quite challenging.
This is normal so do not get discouraged. It takes time to get fingers, tendons, and muscles used to bending in the ways necessary to play the harmonium. Take your time, be patient and it will come.
2. Attitude –
A positive attitude goes a long way. You can do this, so try and stay positive and remember that your harmonium playing is an evolution.
3. Cleanliness –
As much as you will prepare for learning every step with cleanliness, your harmonium playing skills will sharpen day by day.
In a few days, you can be playing a good harmonium and feel the improvement yourself.
4. Proper Technique –
Utilizing the proper techniques and learning the proper fundamentals is essential for beginnerHarmonium. Any bad habits that you start with will be very hard to untangle later as well as they will impede your progress down the road.
So strive to follow the technique guidelines closely at first and then later down the road you can develop them into your style – first learn the rules, then go ahead and break them!
How to sit at Harmonium:
There are two common sitting positions, a standard position and one used by qawwali singers. The standard position is simple. One simply places the harmonium on the ground.
The right hand plays the keys while the left hand pumps the bellows. This is the most common position used in India and Pakistan today.
There is also a position used by qawwali singers and folk musicians. For This position, one end of the harmonium rests on the ground while the other end rests partially in the lap.
The position is reversed for left-handed musicians. In such cases, the right hand pump the bellows while the left hand
plays the melody.
